Blackfork Retreat Center

1791 State Route 603, Ashland, Ohio 44805

The Blackfork Retreat Center is owned by First English Lutheran Church,
53 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio, and was first dedicated on August 13, 1978. The Center was financed through bequests and donations of many members and friends of the congregation.

The facility consists of an A-frame lodge that sleeps 25 people, with a full kitchen,
2 baths, separate master bedroom, and a wood-burning fireplace. The lodge sits on 35 acres of land: 6 acres cropland, 3 acres grassland, 17 acres woodland, 4 acres wildlife, 5 acres recreation. Outside recreation facilities include a tennis and volleyball court, large covered and screened-in picnic pavilion, and playground equipment.  There is a well-marked nature trail that was planned by Ed Legenza, who, after hundreds of hours of work, completed this trail and wrote a guide in 1982 as his Eagle Scout project.

The Center is used by our members for retreats, picnics, reunions, and overnights. Many area churches use the facility for their weekend retreats. Our Christian Day School uses the Center from June through August for their Summer Day Camp.

On July 18, 2001 the Lodge of the Blackfork Retreat Center was rededicated.  Sincere thanks to the volunteers who have refurbished and made repairs of painting, new carpeting and linoleum, new mattresses, deck repair, on-going mowing and grounds maintenance.
