To what "branch" of the Lutheran Church does First English Lutheran Church belong?
FELC is a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).  This association of Lutheran congregations is growing very rapidly.  As of May 1, 2010 there are 424 total congregations.  The Association is global in nature, therefore of these 424 congregations, 376 are U. S. congregations.  This association believes strongly in the authority of God's Word as the final norm for our faith and life.  It takes seriously the Call of the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.

Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ is an association of congregations and individuals who are:

·                    free in Christ;
          accountable to one another;

rooted in the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions;

    working together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to go and make
            disciples of all nations.

LCMC is an association of congregations. LCMC congregations have a great respect for the reality that the Church is where the people of God gather together around Word and Sacrament. The local congregation is where the Church becomes a concrete reality for God's people.

At the same time we are joyously aware that each congregation is a part of the greater body of Christ. The actions of each congregation within our association reflect on our association as a whole. And the actions of our association reflect on the whole body of Christ. For this reason we have committed ourselves to a common set of ministry standards. LCMC Congregations have significant latitude in ordering and shaping ministry in their local setting. LCMC has intentionally have made joining and leaving the association simple. LCMC congregations have also agreed to a disciplinary process for addressing congregations whose actions violate our agreed-upon statements of faith and practice.

I'm not Lutheran. Can I attend services there?
Of course! We welcome anyone who seeks to know Christ...and to make Christ known.  We have an exciting new members program if you are thinking of joining, but you are welcome to worship with us regardless of your current or past status.

What is the appropriate "dress" for worship services?
There is simply no rule or expectation here. Some feel more comfortable in suits, others in casual attire; it's just not an issue.  We are an inclusive church.

Do you have special music?
We provide a variety of musical content and styles depending on the service style, liturgy and season.  We have a remarkably talented musical director who can reveal the full spiritual depth of traditional musical forms on our magnificent Moeller organ, while also providing modern, interpretive compositions for our contemporary service.

How does someone join the church?
Usually once per year, a special "New Members Class" is offered for all those desiring to learn more about the Christian faith and what we as Lutheran Christians believe and teach. All those desiring to become members of First English Lutheran (either through transferring their membership from another Lutheran congregation or through Affirmation of Faith or Holy Baptism) are invited to participate in this class. The class is always great fun with wonderful discussions and opportunities to meet and get to know one another. Often present members will participate as well, just for the fun and a chance to "get back to the basics." Classes normally last for a period of 10 weeks. You may contact the pastors if you have further questions or our Director of Lay Ministries. Class discussions focus on the "Seven Marks of Discipleship" and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and The Lord's Supper.

Can I regularly attend the church but not join?
Absolutely!!  We welcome the opportunity to provide ministry to all who seek to know God's truth.

Is the church available for Baptisms and weddings?
We'd love to talk to you about these services!  Call the church office for details.

Where are you located?
