Sunday, December 21st - 7:00PM
ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY
On Sunday, December 21, at 7 PM in our newly remodeled sanctuary, First English Lutheran Church, 53 Park Avenue West, will host "Journey to Bethlehem", a special reenactment of the Christmas story written by Pastor Paul Lintern in 1993. This years Journey will be unique in that there will only be one performance. The “Journey” will be completely enacted on our newly remodeled chancel, with special music on our newly remodeled organ. We invite you, not only to come and join with us and share the “Journey, but also to see and share with us our new look and music.
The program begins with guests listening to Luke and Matthew, two of the disciples who express, "You are going to embark on a journey of the Christmas story through the eyes of 15 people who were affected by the first Noel". Then you will encounter the angel Gabriel, Malachi, Elizabeth, and Zechariah. Next you will meet Isaiah, have a chance to hear from Mary who expresses her feelings when the angel of the Lord told her she was to give birth to the Savior. Then you will see a liturgical dance of the Magnificat, hear Joseph's reaction to the fact that Mary was to give birth to Jesus, hear from the Centurion, the inn keeper, the Head Shepherd, Micah, Anna and Simeon, visit King Herod, see the Magi, and then a mother of Bethlehem sadly tells of her personal reaction to the killing of babies by Herod in Bethlehem. The final scene is the reenactment of the Nativity.
This is a most meaningful experience and opportunity to hear and experience the true Christmas story with live actors. A free will offering will be accepted to benefit the Wednesday Noon Lunch program; a free meal served every Wednesday for those who are in need.
Please come and join us for this special celebration
of the “Journey to Bethlehem”
