Lithuanian Mission

Joe and Karyne Carey made their fifth mission trip to Lithuania Christian College in July 2006 to teach English as a second language at the Summer Language Institute.  The 312 students who studied six hours a day for three weeks came from seven countries - Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, and Germany.   In addition to their classes, they could participate in Bible studies, chapels, game nights, sports, a talent show, and community outreach projects.

First English Lutheran sponsored 13 students at the language institute.  One student was an orphan and the other students came from small villages.

First English Lutheran members also donated $1000 to buy needed items for the Rytas Orphanage in Klaipeda.  There was a great need for hygiene items and school supplies as the budget did not provide for these things.  About 80 children live at the government run orphanage.
