Intercessory Prayer Ministry

At the end of both of our 11 o'clock services, we have an Intercessory Prayer Team available to pray privately with you if you so desire.  After benediction, the Pastor will announce that members of our Intercessory Prayer Team are available following the service to meet with anyone who desires prayer.  If you have a prayer need, following the closing hymn, simply come forward and they will be happy to pray with you.  More information.

Advent Event

Wednesday, December 2nd
7:00 PM in the Undercroft

Christmas is coming! And so is the Advent Event! On December 2, 7:00 pm in the Undercroft, we will kick off the holiday season.

Along with the Silent Auction of handcrafted gifts, the Fair Trade gifts and the delicious food of the past years, we will have workshops reminiscent of the Advent workshops held many years ago. So please bring the entire family, especially the kids, to be a part of this great fellowship!

The committee previewed the workshop items and are very excited. We are asking you to pay a small fee to cover the cost of the items. For $1.00 you can make a Christmas card to send or to keep, and for $3.00 you can make a banner. There are sample banner designs of angels, Baby Jesus, a tree of life, Christmas tree, etc. to get the creative juices flowing, OR you can make up your own design. Come and be a part of this evening of family fun and creativity.

Malawi Mission Trip

Praise God for the safe return of our Malawi Mission Team!   Shadreck and his wife, Yami, took time off to serve as the team's driver, guides, protectors, translators, and interpreters.  The people of Kanyenyeva now have five faces that they can remember when they hear about First English Lutheran Church.  The mission effort to be with them has given them hope for the future and strengthened their Christian faith.  Click here for Mission Team Letter.

GLOBAL MISSION AT FELC

"Reaching out beyond our church to help others"

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Dr. Stephen Dintaman, theology professor at Lithuania Christian College (LCC) will be guest speaker at the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services.  Dintaman has served as a pastor, college and seminary professor, and missionary.  Steve and his wife, Betsy, are currently on a summer speaking tour in US and Canada sharing their stories about serving for seven years at Lithuania Christian College in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

LCC is sending Steve on this teaching ministry, because LCC has a great story to be shared with Christians all over North America.  Starting from very humble beginnings just after the collapse of the Soviet Union, LCC has grown until today it enrolls about 650 students from 21 countries.  Steve has seen first-hand the power of the gospel and Christian higher education to change students' lives.   He will share out of his classroom experience with students from many different countries and faith backgrounds.  All of his talks will be illustrated with pictures and stories from his and his wife's work at LCC.  His approach to teaching and speaking is down-to-earth, practical, and humorous.

Plan to attend one or both of the services on July 19th, and bring a friend, too!
