First
English
has recently initiated an exciting new ministry as part of our Vision 2000
five year goal process. Our membership has determined that a formal
Small Groups Program would enhance and expand our congregational
"in-reach" and "outreach" ministries, and provide additional fellowship opportunities to our diverse faith
community. This program will build on the experience of the many informal small
groups that have been present at FELC in the past such as "Dinner For Eight",
"Young Mother's" and "Monday Men's Fellowship", as well as many other programs.
Small groups are a vital part of any dynamic, growing church, and provide an
excellent means to meet other members of the congregation who share your
interests. |

Small Group Topics |
As indicated above, First English has a number of
existing "Small Groups" programs already in existence that will act as a
foundation for the expanded ministry. Our "Young Mothers" and "Dinner for
Eight" small groups are examples of programs that appeal to an ever expanding
group of members (and non-members also). Our recent V2K congregational
survey has revealed a number of new small group topics that have interest to our
members such as: Prayer and Meditation; Home Bible Study; Aging Issues: Theology
and History; Computer Skills and Health & Nutrition. We will be publishing
schedules for the launch of our first new small groups soon, so stay tuned! |

How Do You Join a Small
Group? |
Although we will be publishing information as it develops in this website, the Visitor, our weekly bulletin and will be placing flyers in the Narthex regarding specific small group programs, you can also contact the church office for details on existing program topics, or to indicate your interest in one of the new groups being formed. They are also welcoming anyone who has an interest in starting, or assisting with, a new small group or existing group. Small groups are a powerful form of ministry to serve the needs of congregations, of all sizes, as they provide both "in-reach" and "outreach" support; a structure for fellowship and witness; and another means to know Christ...and to make Christ known.
